Charlock and Clover are our two Golden Guernsey goats. They were born at our neighbouring Spitalfields City Farm in 2007 and are the start of our goat herd at Hackney City Farm.
Golden Guernsey’s are known for their placid nature and excellent milk production relative to their small size. Goats are ‘browsers’ rather than ‘grazers’ like sheep, so they enjoy a variety of vegetation and like nothing more than a munch on bramble or fresh leaves.
Domestic goats are one of the oldest domesticated species. For thousands of years, they have been utilized for their milk, meat, hair, and skins all over the world.
