Building with what we’ve got
We are pleased to announce our first Architecture on the Farm competition. Already on the map for our straw bale building, which features in the annual Open City architectural showcase, we are looking to improve our Farm Shop and Information point. This is the first thing visitors see when they walk in the door and so it is important that it represents our values and looks amazing.
As a charity, we are committed to sustainability, and the design should take into account that we will only build with reclaimed or scavenged materials. Our stories of sustainability and resilience are based in the natural world, where it is through interconnections and integrated diversity that ecosystems thrive and we would like the building you design to take this into account.
All entries will be exhibited in the straw bale building during the Open City weekend.
The winning entry will be built in May. Please specify whether you will build as well.
The winning team will get Hackney City Farm t-shirts, bags and honey.
See below for photos, plans and specifications for the new front for the shop.
