Over the past six years the Farm has run a very popular and successful volunteer programme thanks to funding from Shoreditch Trust, Jack Petchy Foundation and The Tudor Trust and The Big Lottery.
Currently our volunteer program consists of:
- Gardening sessions for adults held on Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons 2–4pm.
- The Mini Farmers Club is held every Saturday morning from 10.30—12.30. It’s a great way for younger kids to learn about nature, make arts and crafts and get to know the animals, under the careful supervision of our livestock worker. This is a free session and is aimed at young people aged 8–12 years.
Of course we are always grateful for additional help, particularly from skilled volunteers who are happy to work with minimal supervision.
If you are interested in joining the adult gardening sessions contact: Charlie our Volunteer Co-ordinator on charlie@hackneycityfarm.co.uk
If you are interested in the Mini Farmers Club contact: Charlotte our Education Mentor on charlotte@hackneycityfarm.co.uk.
Alternatively you can telephone the farm office on 020 7729 6381
As a way of saying thanks to our volunteers for all their hard work we arrange trips and activities for them. These activities include going to Capel Manor Harvest Festival – a show involving all the city farms from around London, which is held annually at Capel Manor College in Enfield.
